Complaints:

The brewing unit is removable for cleaning, which is a good idea, but some reviewers report that the cleaning procedure is not as straight forward as it should be. The unit has factory installed lubrication which you have to work around when cleaning. Hand wash only. Not suitable for the dishwasher.

The bypass doser does not always function properly – occasionally it will dump the coffee and pour only hot water into the cup. This does not happen with the grinder hopper.

The “Pannarello Wand” attachment is not convenient to use and actually slows down milk frothing. The fixed position steamer requires some getting used to with odd size cups. Not a big deal but initially aggravating.

Another slight aggravation is that you are supposed to change the grinder settings only while the grinder is in operation.

Raves:

The Gaggia Syncrony Logic lives up to its super-automatic claim. The machine is convenient. Pour beans in the hopper, water in the tank, turn the dials and out comes darn good espresso coffee.

Makes espresso, latte and hot chocolate quickly and easily. Even the kids will use it – without making a mess.

Nice to make a quick cup of coffee, or several, without prepping and cleaning a pot after each use. The machine still has to be cleaned but not every time it’s used.

Have used it everyday for 6 people in the office with no problems. Should be cleaned weekly.

The Gaggia Platinum Vision is the recommended replacement.
