Gevalia Kaffe is a subsidiary belonging to Kraft Foods and is the biggest coffee roastery in Scandinavia. Located in Gavle (which is spelled Gevalia in Latin) in Sweden, Gevalia Kaffe first arrived there in 1920 by the Victor Theodore Engwall trading company. It stayed owned by the family until it was sold to General Foods in 1971. General Foods eventually became Kraft Foods, and that’s who owns Gevalia today. In Peru, Gevalia established quality standards for Peruvian coffee and helped Peruvian farmers gain market share. In 2002, this partnership resulted in the introduction of Peruvian Organic Coffee.
